Mistaken Identities

"The All-Rambis Team is a group of NBA players who do things that aren't in a box score, similar to what the Lakers forward did in his heydey."

Chris Colston, "All-Rambis Team Has Own Focus," USA Today, April 15, 2009

In Nonprofit Leadership I use a sports metaphor to reflect on my leadership performance over the years. I characterize myself as a consistent hitter of singles and occasional doubles rather than a game changer hitting home runs. I am not the charismatic social entreprenuer of the year but I deliver good stuff on a dependable basis.

People have said I resembled Kurt Rambis on more than one occasion. What an honor to be compared to this unsung hero -- at least in looks.

"But in his day...Rambis developed a cult following with his long wild hair, black-horned-rim glasses, and tenacious, body-hurtling style..Rambis remains alive through the grittiness of certain players who still do the dirty work."

Okay, I don't have a cult following. Nor do I wear black horned-rim glasses.
