Tavern Shuffleboard

"When you think of shuffleboard you think of cruise ships and retirement homes. But now you should start thinking downtown bars.A miniaturized tabletop version of the game is the hot new thing among the younger generation."

Jess Blumberg, "The Next Big Bar Game," Baltimore, September 2009.

I remember fondly playing bar shuffleboard nearly forty years ago in hippie-cowboy bar in Boulder named Tom's Tavern. Guys like Frenchie, a truck driver who didn't say much, ruled the table with patented moves. I showed occasional talent but terrible inconsistency. No student-worker alliance grew out of these shuffleboard games, but there was some minor redistribution.
